Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to speak with the Corporate Giving Network about a topic that’s crucial for any brand’s success: team alignment.
One thing I emphasized during the talk was this: if your team isn’t aligned, your brand suffers.
Mixed messages, inconsistent visuals, and a lack of focus can confuse your audience and weaken your impact.
But here’s the good news: alignment doesn’t have to be complicated.
The 5-Minute Alignment Exercise
Here’s a quick exercise I shared with the Corporate Giving Network to get everyone on the same page:
Set the Stage: Gather your team (in person or virtually) for a short, focused conversation about your brand.
Ask These 3 Questions:
What is our brand’s purpose?
Who is our audience, and what do they care about most?
What is the one thing we want people to remember about us?
Listen and Align: Compare everyone’s answers. Where do they align? Where do they differ? Use this conversation to identify gaps and refine your messaging.
Why This Works
This exercise surfaces misalignment quickly and sparks clarity.
When your team shares a common understanding of your brand’s purpose, audience, and message, everything becomes sharper—from the way you show up online to how you connect with your audience.
