A few years ago, I stumbled across something incredible—a deep dive into the brand strategy of Santa Claus (or Babbo for us who speak Italian).
That’s right, the big man in red with the jolliest marketing game on Earth.
While I didn’t come up with these insights, I couldn’t resist turning them into something fun, so I created a series of graphics to bring Santa’s brand strategy to life.
Honestly, Santa might just be the most iconic brand in history. Challenge me on this one.
Some takeaways from the Santa strategy are:
Brand Promise: XMAS—Excellence, Measurability, Accountability, and… Snow.
Core Values: Magic, Jolliness, and yes, Justice (because who else champions the underdog like Rudolph?).
Visual Identity: Red, white, and only red and white. No tertiary colors allowed. Ever.
I’ve included these playful graphics in this email to give you a laugh and maybe inspire a few branding ideas for yourself.
They’re a reminder that even the most magical brands are built on strategy.
Breaking it down, Santa’s brilliance lies in his consistency. The suit, the sleigh, the chimney entrance—he knows who he is and how to deliver joy (literally).
